The Conservation Exchange is an easy and efficient way to market your conservation projects, and potentially tap into new sources of capital funding.

The Conservation Exchange is an online marketplace that matches new sources of funding with exemplary conservation projects in need of funding.  These new funding sources include various types of regulatory contributions like natural resource damage settlements, wetlands mitigation, riparian mitigation, penalty settlements, and supplemental environmental projects.  A project featured on the Conservation Exchange is also eligible for Conservation Resources Inc.’s (CRI’s) various competitive grant programs including the Franklin Parker Small Grants Program.

There is no charge for non-profit organizations to use The Conservation Exchange.  Plus, when non-profits feature their projects on The Conservation Exchange, CRI provides free technical assistance for the featured projects.  Technical assistance can include anything from landowner negotiations to environmental consulting to assistance with other funding sources.

Many non-profit organizations have asked us how we sustain our organization. Conservation Resources Inc. is a non-profit.  We do not do our own conservation projects, but rather serve as a conservation intermediary and act as an honest broker for people wanting to fund conservation projects and organizations seeking funding.  We receive some foundation support to do this work, we do selective consulting work, and also do grantmaking work for government agencies such as the Pinelands Commission and Highlands Council. CRI also charges management fees to contributors.

If The Conservation Exchange is able to match a particular project with a new funding source, CRI typically plays an intermediary role.  For that role, we charge regulated parties (generally corporations or other businesses) a modest management fee.  This charge is over and above any funding provided to a specific project, and does not reduce the funding provided for featured projects.

Since 2003, Conservation Resources Inc. has granted and facilitated over $53,000,000 worth of funding for conservation projects featured in The Conservation Exchange.  This funding has gone to preserve and restore over 12,000 acres in rural, suburban and urban communities throughout New Jersey.
